'Cupido' was born in Suriname or Curacao and was given to Stadholder Willem V (1748-1806) by the Dutch West India Company ( Geoctroyeerde Westindische Compagnie) or GWIC. Cupido is represented here in his serving livery as a valet to the Stadholder.
