Trees in woodland on the Isle of Eigg that were blown over by hurricane force winds in December 2011, the strongest recorded winds on the Island. This Larch tree was splintered and snapped like it was match wood. Climate change is leading to both an increase in frequency and intensity of extreme weather events.
