A Syrian shamshir, 19th century Curved, single-edged blade of Wootz Damascus, the base of the blade chiselled and with remains of gilding on the obverse. Iron cross-guard with Arabic inscription on both sides, grip scales of rhinoceros horn. Leather-covered wood scabbard with iron mounts featuring gold and silver decorations.
