Selingue, Mali, 26th April 2015; The Camara household. Nakani Troure, wife of Bogory Camara, is also roasting peanuts. Peanuts sell quickly and are therefore a good source of income. The family came from Dalaba Koro (old Dalaba) where the dam was being constructed in 1980. Bogory is 51. He says that the dam brings a lot of infrastructure, but the family didn’t have any land to grow food. In 1983 he got one hectare of rice, in 1985 one hectare of maize, and in 1998 an extra hectare of maize. In 1999, he got hectares of rice, giving a total hectares. Now he grows rice on all his land, using mostly organic fertilizer.
