Children's medications, including paracetamol syrup, Nurofen and an elastoplast. In the bottle is a liquid form of the painkiller paracetamol, a common analgesic (pain killer) and antipyretic (for reducing fever). In the packet there is a single child's dose of Nurofen. Nurofen contains the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) ibuprofen. This is used to treat pain and inflammation, particularly in rheumatoid arthritis. Nurofen was made originally by Boots healthcare, which was acquired by the UK drug company Reckitt Benckiser in February 2006.
