Fete des Vendanges, Banyuls-sur-Mer, France

The Banyuls Fete des Vendanges takes place every year in October to celebrate the end of the grape harvest. The beach is crowded with people (about 7,000 in 2009) and smoke rises in the air from countless barbecues as the town settles down to an afternoon of eating, drinking and impromptu dancing to bands of musicians wandering along the beach.
