16C Historic building to the right: De Waag is a former Weigh House in Haarlem that today serves as a traditional pub. The building was designed by Lieven de Key around 1597. In the sixties and seventies famous for it's folk and troubadour scene. Simon and Garfunkel were among the performers. From 1821 on the top floor of the Waag was rented to the artist society Kunst Zij Ons Doel (KZOD) for drawing classes gathered around a live model. The room is still used for this function, though fewer drawing classes are held nowadays and the rooms are often used for exhibitions. The entrance to the artist club is via the small staircase on the Spaarne side on the far right. In the middle of this small square is the modest entrance to an underground parking.
