7820 Dinmore Manor hauls a train along the coast at Saltern Cove towards Paignton station on the Dartmouth Steam Railway, Devon
Manor Class steam locomotive No. 7820, "Dinmore Manor", was built in Swindon in 1950 by British Railways to a Great Western Railway's design. The engine was withdrawn in 1965 and sold for scrap. The engine was rescued in 1979 and is now based at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, visiting both the West Somerset Railway and Dartmouth Steam Railway in September 2015. The Dartmouth and Torbay Railway opened in stages between 1859 and 1864 and ran from Torquay (now Torre) via Paignton, Goodrington (opened in 1928) and Churston (originally Brixham Road) to Kingswear, for a ferry to Dartmouth. A branch line was added to the important fishing town of Brixham, from Churston, in 1868. The line became part of the Great Western Railway in 1876 and later the Western Region of British Railways in 1948. The line was rationalised in the 1960s, which included a general reduction of services, the removal of Sunday services and the closure of the Brixham Branch (in 1963). The whole line south of Paignton was originally cited for closure in the late 1960s but was instead sold for heritage operation in 1972; it is now operated as the Dartmouth Steam Railway.
