Desert Botanical Garden - Plants & Sculpture - Desert Ironwood Tree (Olneya tesota)

The Desert Botanical Garden is a living museum of some 50,000 plants representing more than 4,000 species. They offer education, research, exhibition, and conservation of desert plants from around the world with emphasis on species from the Sonoran Desert — southern Arizona and south to Mexico. I found the sign naming this tree — an Ironwood tree. My mind raced — this could not be correct — I am familiar with Ironwood trees from Australia that have been planted in Hawai‘i to act as a wind break. They look nothing like this tree. So I looked in Wikipedia and it turns out there are at least 30 different species of trees called "Ironwood". This one is a Desert Ironwood — completely different than ones I have seen elsewhere.
