25/02/21 #167 February 2021. Cornwall. Mixed messages. Sue Prince in her studio in Ilam, Staffordshire. The folk artist has painted a picture each day during all three lockdowns. Her works, painted in only six colours using egg tempera (a home-made paint made from pigment and her own free-range eggs) reflect her experiences and what sheÕs witnesses herself and on the news every day. Her paintings are a mix of humour, sadness, tenderness and political observations. She has already published a book Ôthe isolation chroniclesÕ - featuring her first 84 paintings covering the whole of the first lockdown period. She finished her last painting today, her 180th. It shows Sue herself skipping through the exit door of a vaccination centre and is entitled ÔJABBED AND HAPPY: EXIT FROM PANDEMIC: THANK YOU NHS. She is now planning the second volume of her book.
