A340 600 Airbus rear fuselage rudder and tailplane from starboard side taxiing after landing at Farnborough Airshow 2006 . This Airbus is the new long range version and provides a passenger capacity of 380 and a range of 13900 kilometres km . Built by a consortium of French British German and Spanish it is truly a symbol of international cooperation . It is a joint venture between European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company EADS and BAE Systems . This narrow bodied single deck aircraft flew everyday in the air display at the Farnborough Airshow in July . The A340 600 inaugural flight took place on 23 April 2001 and achieved its type certification in June 2002 . The aircraft entered service with Virgin Atlantic Airways in August 2002 when it took its first commercial flight from London Heathrow to JFK New York . Airbus headquarters is in Toulouse France .
