Bill plumbeous to pale blue at the base, shading to black at the tip (Hume and Marshall, 1879).There is apparently some variation in the shade of the bill. The irides are deep brown, the legsand feet dark, at times pale plumbeous blue, often dusky in patches. Wing 190 mm.; culmen 39; tarsus 46. Weight 1 pound to 1 pound 6 ounces ( to kilograms), the latter weight unusual (Baker,1908). Female: Similar. Plate 13.
