Augusta, Maine, USA. The Maine State Capitol Building, also known as the Maine State House, was built in 1832 using Maine granite.

The Maine State Capitol Building, also known as the Maine State House, was built in 1832 using Maine granite, a year following when Augusta became the state capitol. Not surprisingly, the building was based on the design of the Massachusetts State House since Maine was originally part of Massachusetts but became a separate state in 1820. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
