Edgar or Eadgar, c. 944 – 975, aka Edgar the Peaceful or the Peaceable. King of England from 959 -975. During his coronation other kings of Britain came to give their allegiance to Edgar, including the King of Scots and the King of Strathclyde, they pledged their faith that they would be the king's liege-men on sea and land and are seen here rowing him down the River Dee as a symbol of their submission.
