SciUas and Grape Hyacinths continue the procession with Fritillaria, Lily of the Valley, Anemone, Calochortus, Er>'thronium, Leucojum, and Rannunculus providing a succession that leads up to the early summer-flowering plants. For blooming this fall plant Colchicum and Fall-Flowering Crocus without delay. Hardy Amaryllis Halli—Lycoris Squamigera Few gardeners know that there is a real hardy Amaryllis for garden planting. Plant the bulbs 8 inches deep and cover the ground securely with leaves during the winter months. The bulb starts to make foliage in the spring but by July this will have died down. The greater is the surprise when soon afterwards sturdy, strong spikes arise from the soil, bearing beautiful, large, fragrant pink blooms arranged in showy large clusters. Planted in well-drained soil and in a sunny position the bulbs are permanent to give yearly their interest- ing display of flowers. $ each.
