European Pond Tortoise or Terrapin Emys orbicularis. Bred in captivity, showing sealed umbilicus on undersell or plastron.

Europen Pond Terrapin (Emys obicularis). Hatchling three days old, held between a man's fingers. Captive bred baby showing plastron, or undershell, umbilicus fully sealed. Note, compared with older terrapins, long tail. May have some survival value; aquatic predatory animals such as Dytiscus sp. diving beetles, grasps a piece of tail and little turtle escapes.
