Queen Anne ( 1665-1714) taking a strong role in affairs of state, with members of her Privy Council. She was crowned in 1702, then under the 1707 Acts of Union, the kingdoms of England and Scotland united as a single sovereign state known as Great Britain. She continued to reign as Queen of Great Britain and Ireland until her death in 1714.
