A modern (2017) version of Rapunzle (The maiden in the tower) displayed at MacLellan’s Castle, Kirkcudbright, Scotland. Rapunzel is a German fairy tale recorded by the Brothers Grimm and first published in 1812 as part of Children's and Household Tales . It previously appeared in various versions, adaptations and translations including Petrosinella by Giambattista Basile (Italian 1634); Persinette by Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de La Force (1698), Das Mährchen von der Padde by Johann Gustav Büsching (1812); and Rapunzel by Friedrich Schulz (1790) .Rapunzel is a salad green.
