St Vedast Alias Foster, church in the City of London; exterior with tower and spire


St Vedast Alias Foster, a church in the City of London rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London (1666). Work started in 1695, and the new church (excluding the spire) was finished in 1699. Spire was built, perhaps with contribution by Nicholas Hawksmoor 1709-12. Plain tower below, Baroque spire above, going from concave to convex and back to concave. Stone.
