The typical material of this species consisted of a piece of a lower jaw containing the carnassial tooth, and a portion of an upper jaw with two teeth both badly preserved. This material was obtained by Dr. Hayden from the Niobrara Sands. The horizon is presumably Upper Miocene. The lower jaw and figured by Leidy1 show form and dimensions closely similar to those of a specimen obtained by Peterson2 from beds at Whistle i Leidy, J., Jour. Acad. Nat. Sc.
