Composite image of Saharan dust moving west from Western Africa towards South America and the Gulf of Mexico in June 2014. The dust was pushed across the Atlantic Ocean by easterly winds. Dakar, Senegal (bottom) and the Cabo Verde Islands (centre) can be seen. Image taken using data obtained from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on Suomi NPP satellite.
