Tromso,The middle of town is marked by the town square. It has beeen the oldest town in the north since the 890s. It has been divided by the tribes of the Norse and the Sami. The leader of the Norsemen describes himself, 'as living farther north than every other leader'. It has The Arctic Cathedral with its beautiful east first church was the cathedral in1252. It was known as the, Paris of the north in the 17th and 18th century because its people were so sophisticated. It is where Roald Amundsen set off for the south Pole. Tromso holds a Latin American Festival in Feb. each year, and a street Samba parade. Every autumn is the festival of Electronic Music.
