The monument is located in a park dedicated to Russian space exploration and is home to the Memorial Museum of Cosmonaut's. It is located close to VDNKh, a permanent general purpose trade show and amusement park located in north east Moscow. The acronym VDNKh stands for Russian vystavka dostizheniy narodnogo khozyaystva (Exhibition of Achievements of the People's Economy).
