Man walks through wall shock, Montmartre, Paris

Man embedded in wall. There are thousands of statues dotted around France's capital city but one which really jumps out at you, quite literally, is a 1980's work by Jean Marais called Le Passe-Muraille (the walker through walls), in Montmartre. Dedicated to the writer Marcel Ayme and based on his 1943 short story. It shows a mans head torso and three of his limbs emerging from a solid stone wall. All very wierd and very original. The statue can be found at Place Marcel Ayme marcel-Ayme on the junction of Rue Giardon and Rue Novrins. The nearest metro stations are at Lamarck Caulaincourt or Abbesses.
