Dense stand of giant bamboo forest on the Na Pali coast of Kaua'i, Hawai'i
Bamboo is actually an evergreen grass, and the fastest growing woody plant in the world. It is amazing to walk through forests of giant bamboo - these specimens are three to four inches in diameter and rose to nearly a hundred feet. They make fantastic abstracts, and a tripod is highly recommended because of the dense canopies the forests create, blocking out most of the light.
