A major fire at Nelson Stanley Scrapyard in Alder Road, Poole, Dorset on 15th November 2005 brought down a high voltage cable from an adjacent electricity pylon resulting in loss of power to 75000 local residents for several hours. A large plume of smoke rose 200 metres into the air as hundreds of cars went up in flames.
