A heavy matchlock musket, German, circa 1600. Octagonal barrel with a lightly swamped muzzle. Smooth bore in 19 mm calibre (ball weight 2 Lots). Decoratively chiselled bronze tubular front sight. Side mounted priming pan with sliding cover, the lever on the side ends in an acorn knob. Matchlock with original slow match. Blackened walnut full stock, the cheekpiece added during the period the weapon was in use. Numerous stamped marks in the stock, acorn, lily, and others that are difficult to identify. The end of the butt stock is dented and has slight worm damag,
