The Battle of Fort Pillow, or the Fort Pillow Massacre, 12 April 1864, at Henning, Tennessee, United States of America during the American Civil War. An outnumbered Union garrison in Fort Pillow surrendered to a Confederate force which kept killing even after all resistance had stopped. Many black artillerymen fighting for the Union were amongst the dead. After an illustration in Harper's Weekly, April 30, 1864.
