Sivatherium, reconstructed from only a skull fossil, from Louis Figuier's The World Before the Deluge, 1867 American edition. Once thought to be a gigantic deer, it is now grouped with the giraffes and is known to have resembled today's okapi. Sivatherium lived in Africa and the Indian subcontinent, from the Late Pliocene until about 10,000 years ago.
