Bombylius major, Large Bee Fly


The Large Bee Fly is a bee mimic, whose larvae parasitise beetle, bee and wasp larvae. The female will flick her eggs toward the nest of solitary bees and wasps, when they hatch the larvae feed on those of the host insect. Photographed by Harry Taylor.
