Two young flower buds of Sapria gan - a parasitic flowering plant on the forest floor in Thailand


Sapria is a genus of parasitic flowering plants. It grows within roots of Vitis and Tetrastigma. The genus is limited to the tropical forests of South and South-east Asia. The flowers of Sapria are about 20 cm in diameter, bright red with yellow or white dots, unisexual and dioecious. It is a close relative of Rafflesia (the largest flower in the world)
