Shugborough Hall former home of Patrick Earl of Lichfield near Rugeley, Staffordshire, UK

This is Shugborough Hall , Milford, Staffordshire, England, UK. Originally it belonged to the Bishop of Lichfield until the Dissolution of the Monasteries by King Henry VIII. The last private owner was Patrick Earl of Lichfield a relative of Queen Elizabeth II. He was a society photographer during the “swinging sixties”. At a time when British fashion photography was dominated by Cockney working-class lads such as David Bailey, Terence Donovan and Brian Duffy the aristocratic Lord Lichfield forged his place. He was hired for photoshoots by fashion magazines such as Vogue and by his own admission slept with more models than he could remember. He took the official photos of the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. Shugborough Hall is now run by Britain’s National Trust and is open to the public.
