NORTHERN PIKE Northern pike have been widely planted in the ponds and lakes of southeastern Montana including periodic plants in the Tongue River Reservoir. As a result of these plantings, some stream dwelling populations have developed, Pike in the larger rivers apparently move into weedy tributaries to spawn in the spring. Some of these tributaries are used by the young-of-the-year as nursery grounds.
