A Boy and His Dog. With the Japs driven back from Lingayen Gulf, a little Filipino boy and his dog came out from hiding to greet the American liberators soon after the heavy firing had passed outward on Luzon. A Coast Guard combat photographer, going in with the invaders, caught this picture of two waifs of war, the child timid and pathetic but obviously warm in his welcome of the Yanks.
