The stadium is the NCAA Division 1 football venue for Iowa State University, The capacity facility is named for Iowa State's first African American athlete and the school's first athlete to die of injuries sustained during an athletic event, a football game against Minnesota in 1923. The stadium was renamed in his honor, from Cyclone Stadium in 1997.
