Rho Ophiuchi region in the Milky Way

Looking in the area of our galaxy bulge at about 420 ly from us in the Scorpius core, lies this amazing and colored complex of nebulae. It takes its name from the Rho Ophiuchi star, but it involves a wide region including emission, reflection and dark clouds. One of the more interesting features are the filaments of gas and dust, that give a 3-dimensional aspect to this nebulae complex, clouds of hydrogen where the gravity action is forming the new generation of stars.
