Battle of the Byzantine Emperor Manuel I Komnenos against the Saracens in 1164. Detail of the Russian icon of Our Lady of Vladimir of the Yaroslavl icon painting school dated from the middle of the 17th century from the Church of Saint John Chrysostom in Korovniky in Yaroslavl, now on display in the Yaroslavl Museum Preserve in Yaroslavl, Russia. According to the legend, Emperor Manuel won the Saracens on 1 August 1164, on the same day when Grand prince Andrei Bogolyubsky of Vladimir won the Volga Bulgarians, both with the miraculous patronage of the icon of Our Lady of Vladimir.
