The New Zealand Memorial in Mesen (Messines), Belgium. The Inscription on the memorial reads, 'In Honour of the men of the New Zealand Division. The Battle of Messines 7th-14th June 1917'. The Obelisk Memorial was unveiled on 1 August 1924 by King Albert I and stands in an area of two German bunkers in Uhlan Trench which were captured by men from the New Zealand Division on 7 June 1917 during the Battle of Messines Ridge. The memorial is just to the south of the village of Mesen.
