1822 - portrait of Dom Pedro (Peter) I,Nicknamed the Liberator and the Soldier King, Emperor of Brazil and his consort Amélie of Leuchtenberg (his second wife). the portraits were painted soon after the Liberal Revolution of 1820. On 2 August, the Emperor had been married by proxy to Amélie of Leuchtenberg confirmed later by a nuptial Mass on October 17th. The Emperor was anti-slavery and denied the divine right of kings,
