Formal box hedging in ornamental design in Stratford Warwickshire England

'The Box hedge plant (Buxus sempervirens) is the ideal species for formal low hedges or pathway hedging as well as being a classic topiary plant. Buxus sempervirens has very dense small round dark evergreen leaves. It is a slow growing plant with an average rate of growth of approx 10-15cm and it should be trimmed in late spring with hand shears if possible, keeping the blade of the shears parallel to the hedge surface. It is shade tolerant and is suitable for most soil types and sites other than wet or windy sites.'
