A raw, uncooked European spider crab, Maja brachydactyla, that was caught from a pier in the UK in a baited drop net. It has been boiled and is ready to be prepared for eating. Spider crabs that are found in the Mediterranean have been named Maja squinado and those found in Atlantic have been named Maja brachydactyla, though the differences between them are apparently very small. Picture shows the crab on a light natural stone background. Dorset England UK GB
