Ass's-ear abalone shell. Interior of the shell of an ass's-ear abalone (Haliotis asinina), a large species of tropical sea snail in the family Haliotidae, the abalones, also known as ormers or paua. This species is found on shallow water coral reefs in the Indo-West Pacific Ocean. As is common amongst abalones, the interior surface of the shell is iridescent.
