The Hercules Club tree, also known as the Devil’s Walking Stick, or Prickly Ash, is a woody species of tree, native to North America. It is sometimes called the toothache tree and was greatly favoured by the early American settlers and American Indians, as it caused the tongue, teeth and mouth to go numb, when the leaves or bark were chewed.
