A family group from Jaiama Nimi Koro, Sierra Leone posing outside their home in 1963.

This image, copied from a 1963 colour slide, was taken in Jaiama Nimi Koro shortly after Sierra Leone had achieved independence (1961) from the United Kingdom. It shows a family outside their home and where the father and the boy in the foreground are wearing traditional loose fitting robes. The boys robe is made from country-cloth.
