These are mainly recordings of Schule Schloss Salem (Baden-Württemberg), a boarding school which opened in April 1920 at the initiative of educationalist Kurt Hahn (1886-1974) and Duke Max of Baden (1867-1929). The aim was to build a new German intellectual elite lost after the First World War. Besides theoretical subjects, there was also focused on the arts and learning in practice. Over time, two branches were opened: Hermanns Berg (1925) for children aged 9 to 14 years and Schloss Spetzgart (1929) for pupils aged 12 to 19 years. The pictures give an impression of the school and of everyday school life leerlingen.
