Songkran new year festival Chang Mai, Thailand: The Prasingh Buddha, a 1600 year old a solid gold statue is brought out of its temple building at Wat Prasingh for the annual Songkran festival. Mounted on an ornate trailer it is being pulled in a long procession through the city . During the procession many people who can get near will throw water onto the statue as a symbol of clensing oneself for the new year.
