We might imagine such a form to arise froma filamentous Alga in which the branches bearing sexual organs havedeveloped somewhat differently from the vegetative branches, especially inthe direction of providing envelopes for the sexual organs. If the formationof the sexual organs is postponed to a later stage and the envelopes becamepurely vegetative, a leafy moss-stem would then arise. Phascaceae.
