The Monument to the Conquerors of Space, Moscow, Russia. This monument was erected in 1964 to celebrate the achievements of the Soviet Union in space exploration. It was built to commemorate cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin's orbit of Earth in 1961, though plans for its construction were in place as early as three years before his mission. The monument is 110 metres tall and is made of titanium. The Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics is located inside the base of the monument.
