Editorial use only Penicillin certification. Food and Drugs Administration analyst using a microscope to certify samples of the antibiotic drug penicillin during World War II (1939-1945). During WWII the FDA worked with the UK to develop ways of mass producing the drug. Use of the drug in wounded soldiers greatly decreased the number of deaths and amputation.
