Soviet statue at Szoborpark Statue Park in Memento Park complex dedicated to monumental statues from Communist period in Budapest


The Szoborpark Statue Park Museum in Budapest was opened in 1993 as part of the country wide festivities to celebrate the second anniversary of the last Soviet troops departure from Hungary. The Socialist Realism, an ideology enforced by the Soviet state was based on the principle that the arts should glorify political and social ideals of communism. The sculptures had to be idealisations of political leaders and communistic ideas.
